This resource is a comprehension activity for year 2. There are three differentiated booklets on the story of The First Christmas. The middle ability booklet is based on the KS1 SATs reading paper. There are a range of ‘what,’ ‘where,’ ‘who’ and ‘why’ questions, some multiple choice tick questions and some that require more detailed answers. The activity is also laid out in a similar way to the SATs booklets, with four pages with short written extracts to read and 5 questions per page. There is a colour and black & white version of each of the three booklets. Answers are also included. PDF file format. This resource contains five old testament bible story comprehensions. They are suitable for using with year 1 or lower ability year 2. There are three differentiated levels. There is a colour and black & white version of each level. Each level contains five short pieces of text with words that can be sounded out. There are three trickier words which have pictures in the lower and middle levels to help children work out what they say. Each passage is followed by 5 simple questions. This is a 3 page plan and 10 slide PowerPoint for an assembly on Love, with a focus on loving your neighbour. This resource is a comprehension activity based on the year 6 reading comprehension SATs paper. The theme is the story of Palm Sunday, which I have rewritten to resemble the style of the reading paper. There is a reading booklet and an accompanying question booklet, which contains a range of questions based on last year’s paper. Answers are also included. I have included 3 differentiated levels. The Higher Ability level (801 words) is similar to the SATs paper, whilst the Middle Ability (741 words) and Lower Ability (615 words) use slightly simplified wording in the reading and question booklet. This is a set of three lesson plans to teach children about the fun Jewish holiday of Purim. It is suitable for ages 4-7. The plans are very detailed (9 pages plus resources). These lessons could be taught at any time of the year. Lesson 1 contains a brief overview of Judaism and Purim. Lesson 2 focuses on the story of brave Queen Esther. Lesson 3 teaches the children about how Jewish people celebrate Purim. Each lesson starts with a carpet session. The children then split into five groups for activities. These include drawing, storytelling, dressing up and crafts. Across the three lessons the children have the opportunity to do all of the activities. The plans could be combined into one lesson with the children only doing one or two activities. There are three differentiated levels of objectives.
